WHY CHOOSING ZINC ALLOYS:
The advantage of using zinc alloys lies both in their mechanical and physical properties and in their excellent moulding abilities, which allows to produce the most complex shapes, with detail of great finesse and very low thickness.
WHAT ARE THE MATERIALS:
The zinc alloys family is composed by:
- ZL3 alloys, ZL5 and ZL2 (zamak) used to produce functional and decorative parts for all industry's sectors;
- Kayem alloys: economically interesting to produce high quality press tools (cutting and stamping tools, moulds for plastics);
- ZL8 alloys, ZL12 and ZL27 (ZA) to meet the requirements of resistance to abrasion and temperature regulation.
WHICH ARE THE CASTING PROCESSES:
- Sand casting: for manufacturing single units or small series and large moulding parts (alloys used for this process: Kayem, ZL12, ZL27).
- Gravity die casting: for small and medium series (the most appropriate alloys are: ZL8, ZL12 and ZL27).
- Pressure die casting: this is the process mostly used for producing medium and large series, (alloys used for this process: ZL3, ZL5 and ZL2).
The possitilibies in terms of shape and size of zinc alloys castings are endless. In addition, they are economical and easy to mould.
WHICH ARE THE APPLICATIONS:
Thanks to their high adaptability, zinc alloys are used by many differents markets. Automotive, hardware-building, household appliances, gas distribution, electricity-electronicas, luxury items, medical, ... are some of the industries where zinc alloys castings are the best option
