Xiros lubrication-free polymer ball bearings are designed to fill the gap where conventional ball bearing performance can be limited by parameters such as temperature, chemical or moisture exposure. The races and cage of the ball bearings are made from a high-temperature material called Iglide A500, which the company developed for its chemical resistance. The balls are made from stainless steel for its corrosion resistant properties, although glass balls are available for additional corrosion resistance.
The deep-groove ball bearings are available for varying shaft diameters and are designed to withstand heat as high as 302° F. According to the company, the dry running polymer ball bearings are offered for applications in which low friction values and minimal driving forces are the main factors, rather than long service life or high permissible speeds or load levels. The polymer ball bearings are available from stock and can be used in combination with potentially corrosive elements, such as chemicals. They do not require lubrication, making them compliant with food industry standards.
